The brief

Digitize! GmbH, based in Pfäffikon (Switzerland), is a PIM specialist. They brought kant.dev in on implementation projects centered on migrating client product data into modern PIM systems.

ABT Sportsline: from legacy database to PIM

The headline engagement was the PIM rollout at ABT Sportsline, the automotive tuning company. The challenge was the data, not the PIM itself: years of complex product and vehicle data sat in a legacy “Produktdatenbank” (PDB) that nobody wanted to touch directly.

We designed and built the interface between the old database and the new PIM, using structured exports out of PDB and automated imports into the new system. The migration had to handle inconsistent historical data, vehicle/product relationship modeling, and attributes that meant different things in different parts of the legacy schema.

Data structuring and process consulting

Around the migration, we worked with the Digitize! team on the operational side: how to structure product data so it stays usable across channels, what to do about CD (corporate design) compliance when product media gets produced from PIM data, and how to keep the data model media-neutral so it can drive different output formats.

InDesign-ready exports

Part of the engagement was getting PIM data into the shape Adobe InDesign expects, so that the team producing advertising material could pull directly from the PIM rather than rebuilding product information by hand. Less glamorous than the migration, but it’s where the day-to-day time savings actually showed up.
